RALEIGH, N.C. — Dr. Chris Martin offered free dental work to 80 patients on his first Free Day of Dentistry in 2010. He saw double that number last year. This year, Martin hopes to help over 175 people in a single day.

Martin, his staff and volunteers will treat patients in need of extractions and cleanings free of charge Friday, May 4, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m in his office at Village Dental in Raleigh.

The event is being held for Dentistry From The Heart, a national non-profit organization that provides free dental care for patients in need. Over 100 million Americans do not have dental insurance.

"I understand how in this day and age not everyone has a job, let alone dental insurance, so this is our way of helping those in need," Martin said.

Dentistry From The Heart has provided $5.5 million in care for over 25,000 patients.
