HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — A third-grade girl from Harnett County is in trouble for carrying a gun in her backpack.
The incident happened Wednesday at Shawtown Elementary in Lillington.
Investigators say the girl carried the unloaded gun in her backpack all day.
A bus driver found the weapon after hearing rumors from other students. The girl was escorted off the bus and the principal called police.
The case is under investigation.
