REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Two men are behind bars in Reidsville for kicking down the doors of a small town church.
The pastor of Lawsonville Road Baptist Church found the men inside the church drinking beer.
A number of churches in the area have been broken into recently. While the pastor wants to forgive and forget, he says the frequent break-ins are disheartening.
"It just seems to be a downward spiral where no one seems to care anymore. It doesn't have to be Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist -- it just seems like there is no respect for the institution whatsoever," he said.
Church members cleaned mud and beer from the carpet and plan to repair the door. As for the vandals, the pastor says he hopes they get their lives straightened out.
