State Democratic Party Chairman To Step Down

RALEIGH, N.C. — Barbara Allen is stepping down as chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party.

Allen was appointed as party chairwoman in 1998 by then-Gov. Jim Hunt. She says she doesn't want to serve another term.

Allen is expected to leave the post in February.
