Woman Dies In Harnett House Fire

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators have ruled out foul play in the death of a woman found in a burning Harnett County home Saturday.

A neighbor saw flames shooting from Cathy Souza's house about10:30 p.m. and called authorities. By the timefirefighters arrived at 243 Betts Road to put out the blaze,Souza was unconscious and one of her cats was dead.

Fifty-two-year-old Souza was pronounced dead late Saturday atGood Hope Hospital in Erwin. Her body has been sent to the stateMedical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Authorities say Souza's husband, Bill, returned home afterfirefighters arrived.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.
