Cumberland Boy Found Nearly Starved To Death Is Placed In Foster Care

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A disabled child who nearly starved to death in Cumberland County is now in foster care.

The 12-year-old boy weighed 32 pounds when investigators found him in early October. Authorities said he has cerebral palsy and was staying with Stephanie Williams.

Investigators said Williams' home was infested with rats and roaches.

Williams is charged with attempted murder. She is still in jail and due in court next month.
