Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The son of state Rep. Bernard Allen, who died a week ago from complications following a stroke, said Friday that he wants to fill his father's seat in the General Assembly.

Bernard Allen II announced his intentions at the Legislative Building, where his father, a Wake County Democrat, served two terms in the House.

Gov. Mike Easley will appoint Allen's replacement.
