Body Found In Burning Truck On Durham Trail

Authorities made the discovery at about 7:30 a.m. on

Massey Chapel Road

, about 100 yards from Fayetteville Road. The truck was on a trail that eventually will be part of the American Tobacco trail, about 50 yards from the street, and the body was in the back seat.

Firefighters with the Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department put the fire out, but both the truck and the body had been destroyed.

Authorities said they believe the body is that of a Hispanic man, but they are still trying to identify it.

There was no information on a possible motive or suspects in the incident, authorities said. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Durham County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
