RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County Schools will set aside the idea of using business sponsorships and naming buildings to make extra money.

The school board decided not to recommend those ideas at a meeting Tuesday. Booster clubs and parent groups had opposed the option.

The board did decide to move forward with the idea of leasing land to cell phone companies and buying supplies in bulk.

School staff will look into how districts of similar size handle the sponsorship idea.
