WARREN COUNTY, N.C. — More charges are flying in a couple of lawsuits involving a Warren county commissioner and a Warrenton resident.
This week, Robert Lowery filed a countersuit against Warren County Commissioner Luke Lucas.
Lucas had sued Lowery after he wrote a letter to the editor, following a newspaper article that reported on an $11,000 judgment against Lucas, who had failed to pay off a student loan. Lowery also questioned Lucas's ability to serve as an attorney and county commissioner.
Lucas then sued two newspapers for printing the letter.
The
Henderson Daily Dispatch
contends it did nothing wrong by printing the letter.
