Truck Driver Relieved Of Job After Fatal Collision With School Bus

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — The driver involved in a fatal wreck involving a young girl has been relieved of his duties.

Authorities say Gary Garnett was driving a tractor-trailer on Tuesday, Jan. 13, when he ran into the back of a stopped school bus, killing 5-year-old Sheila Hernandez.

According to a statement by Mountaire Farms, the chicken plant that hired Gary Garnett and gave him a truck to drive, Garnett has been relieved of his duties, pending the outcomes of law enforcement and internal investigations.
