Garner Police Support Ban On Paintball Guns In Public

Posted Updated

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Garner police say they will support a measure that bans firing paintball guns in public.

Right now, it is illegal to shoot BB guns, pellet guns and air powered devices within town limits, but the ban does not cover paint ball guns.

The issue comes after Chris Estes was shot in the eye last week while riding his bike, leaving him partially blind.

Four teenagers were charged with assault. On Wednesday, one of the teenagers, Chris Tracy, was charged with shooting a man in Garner with a paintball gun the same day Estes was shot.

Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Winston-Salem have bans on firing paintball guns within city limits.
