Man shot in northeast Raleigh home invasion
Two men forced their way into a home in northeast Raleigh's Hedingham community and shot a resident early Sunday, police said.
Posted — UpdatedAs Destryon Perry, 29, was leaving his home at 2248 Turtle Point Drive around 1 a.m., two other men rushed at him and pushed their way inside, police said. They shot Perry in the leg and another bullet grazed his eye.
He was taken to WakeMed, where he was listed in good condition Sunday evening.
No arrests have been made. Police have not disclosed a motive in the case.
Neighbor Becky Olmstead said she heard several gunshots and screams coming from Perry's home early Sunday.
"I can look out my front window and see what's going on. It's real close to home," she said.
One of the women at Perry's home ran outside and hid underneath Olmstead's car, she said.
"That was real scary," Olmstead said. "We (saw) makeup marks on my car."
Another neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said there were three women at Perry's home who were all either heading to a nightclub or returning from one.
One of the women was dating Perry, the neighbor said.
