Two Area Traffic Accidents Send 10 People To Hospitals On Christmas

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two families spent Christmas night in a hospital after a serious accident on I-40 near the Sampson-Johnston county line. A few hours later, a three-car crash in Wake County sent four people to a hospital.

The first accident happened around 4 p.m. Thursday and involved six people. According to the Highway Patrol, a family's car was rear-ended by another family's sport utility vehicle. Troopers said both families were on their way to Christmas get-togethers.

All six people were taken to Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. There was no word Thursday night on their conditions or charges.

A few hours later, a three-car crash sent four people to the hospital. That one happened at Sunnybrook and Poole Roads in east Raleigh around 8 p.m. One of the three cars overturned.

The names and conditions of the injured had not been released Thursday night.
