FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Former Fayetteville police chief Ron Hansen will not face a racial discrimination lawsuit.
The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal, which could have made Hansen a defendant in the case.
In 1999, two former African-American police officers sued Hansen, the city and other officials for racial discrimination.
Federal judges have dropped all of the defendants from the case, except for the city. Those decisions cannot be overturned because the Supreme Court made them.
