Burned Victims Identified In Sampson Deaths

Posted Updated

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Sampson County were able to identify the people who were found burned in a vacant lot over the weekend.

Investigators say the partially burned bodies of Carrie Jones; Randolph Carr, Jones' boyfriend; and Jimmy Turner were found off North McCullen Road in the Keener community. Authorities say the three people lived together in a Sampson County home.

Authorities are trying to figure out the victims' cause of death and whether their bodies were burned before or after their deaths.

Members of Jones' family said she was missing on Saturday. She leaves behind a son.

Investigators say Turner and Carr had criminal records, but they do not know whether they have any bearing on the case.
