Officials: Durham Water OK

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham officials say the portion of the distribution system affected by discolored water has been flushed and water flowing from the taps should be clear.

Over 30 complaints were recorded from water customers in the southwestern portion of the city's water service area on Wednesday. Crews were dispatched to flush the water lines to clear the system of the discolored water.

Officials conducted an analysis and found that bacteriological tests were negative.

Staff members within the Environmental Resources and Public Works departments are continuing to investigate the cause of the discolored water.

To report a water main break or discolored water, you are asked to call (919) 560-4344.
