Charges Dismissed In Case Of Murdered YMCA Counselor

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man is off the hook on murder charges in the drive-by shooting of a popular YMCA counselor.

The Wake County District Attorney's office has dismissed charges against Derrick Bell in the death of Pierre Williams in July 2002.

Williams was shot in the head while sitting behind the wheel of his Honda Accord.

Police believe Williams was mistaken for another young man who had a similar car.

There is no word on why the charges were dropped or if there are any new suspects.
