Man Survives Run-In With Freight Train In Wilson

WILSON, N.C. — A Wilson man was not injured after a freight train plowed into the side of his car in Wilson Thursday night.

Police said the accident happened at 6:30 p.m. at Vance and Railroad Streets near downtown.

Wilson police said the gates were down at the time, but Feliciano Martinez , 28, went around them and did not see the train.

The 1981 Buick Park Avenue sustained major front end damage.

Martinez was charged with reckless driving, failing to stop at a railroad crossing and improperpassing.
