Johnston County Authorities Investigate Deadly Home Invasion

Posted Updated

PRINCETON, N.C. — A dark blue Honda may hold clues to a deadly home invasion in Johnston County.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Braswell Road near Princeton shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday. Inside, they found the residents tied up and beaten. One person was dead from a gunshot wound, and a number of items had been stolen from the home.

Authorities were searching Sunday for several Hispanic males who may have been driving the blue Honda. They have not released any names.

Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell said that a friend who came by the house for a visit while the home invasion was happening also was beaten, robbed and tied up.

After the assailants left the scene, according to Bizzell, the visiting friend was somehow able to escape. All of the phones in the house had been yanked out of the walls by the assailants, so the visiting friend had to find a pay phone to call 911.

All of the people involved -- the suspects and victims -- reportedly are Hispanic.
