Dunn Church Forced To Hold Sunday Services Outside After Fire

Posted Updated

DUNN, N.C. — A local church held worship services outside Sunday, but not by choice.

Members of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church worshipped with borrowed electricity and folding chairs after fire destroyed their sanctuary Saturday morning.

There was not much left of the building. Fire investigators said they do not know what caused the fire, but they do not think it is arson.

The members said it is just another test of their faith.

Since the fire, there has been an outpouring of support from the community.

Mt. Zion plans to hold its services in a nearby school gymnasium.
