Cumberland Inmate Turns Self In After Mistaken Release From Jail

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — An inmate who was mistakenly released from the Cumebrland County Detention Facility last week is back behind bars.

Shaun Bordeaux turned himself in around 3:15 p.m. Monday. Bordeaux walked out of the jail Thursday just days after he was sentenced to eight to 10 months on drug charges.

Sgt. Scott Burgess released Bordeaux after misdemeanor charges against him were dropped. However, Bordeaux was headed to prison on the felony charges.

Burgess, who mistakenly released another inmate in July, is currently suspended with pay.
