Suspect Named In Fatal Hit-And-Run

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Authorities on Tuesday named a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run last week in Wayne County.

Carol Coletrain Lane, 72, of LaGrange, was at fault in the Nov. 7 accident that killed 47-year-old Andy Anderson, authorities said.

Anderson, of the Elroy community, was found dead in the median of U.S. Highway 70 just east of Goldsboro. Friends and relatives said Anderson had a daily routine of crossing busy U.S. 70 to go to a local store less than a mile from the home where he lived with his parents.

A tip to the state Highway Patrol led to a vehicle with front-end damage consistent with the fatal accident.

No charges have been filed in the case, pending a review by the Wayne County District Attorney's Office, authorities said.
