Tony Allen, who taught at Conn Elementary School, is being held at the Wake County jail after being arrested for illegal use of credit cards and fraud.
Allen was wanted in New Jersey for 24 felony charges related to credit card fraud.
According to an official at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Allen was flying in from London when he was arrested. When he was going through customs, officials discovered there was a warrant for his arrest in New Jersey.
RDU Police took him into custody and turned him over to the Raleigh Police Department.
He waived extradition, and his bond was revoked.
Allen had been a teacher's assistant at Conn Elementary since Nov. 4, 2002.
Wake school administrators said Allen went through a background check before he was hired, but nothing showed up.
