Durham Police Investigate Double Shooting

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a double shooting that occurred Thursdayafternoon near the intersection of Elm and Franklin streets.

Phillipe Parker, 17, of Worth Street and Mario Fortune, 22, of FranklinStreet were sitting on a stone wall filling out job applications around 1:25p.m. when a brown 4-door car drove past them.

The car circled the block and came back past the two men. As it passed them,two occupants of the car fired several shots at Parker and Fortune.

Parker was shot once in the leg and suffered a graze wound to his hand. Fortune suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Parker and Fortune were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators do not have a suspect or motive at this time. Investigatorshave not determined if the shooting is gang-related.
