Fayetteville Police Warn Of Scam Targeting Elderly

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police in Fayetteville are investigating the second case of a "pigeon drop" scheme targeting elderly residents.

Police said two women approach elderly victims and claim to have found a large amount of money. They tell the victims they will split the money with them if they put up good faith cash.

The latest victim gave the suspects $5,000. In June, police said a victim was scammed out of $27,000.
