Red Hat Takes No. 2 Spot in Business 2.0 Magazine's 'Fastest Growing' Tech List

RALEIGH, N.C. — Red Hat business is "really booming," says Business 2.0 magazine, which ranked the Raleigh-based Linux software developer and services provider No. 2 on its list of 100 "Fastest Growing Tech Companies" for 2006.

Citing

Red Hat's

three-year annualized growth (41 percent) and stock return (104 percent) in 2005, the magazine ranked the Hatters behind only medical firm Celgene. Celgene had 52.8 percent growth and 144 percent stock return.

Red Hat beat out Apple for the No. 2 spot.

Network Appliance, which has a major operation in RTP, finished 98th.

Red Hat also finished 29th on the most recent Fortune fast-growing 100 list.
