RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police should waste less time responding to false alarms under a new plan.
Officials claim more than 99 percent of the burglar alarms Raleigh police responded to last year were false.
Chief Jane Perlov proposed a program that requires registration of alarm companies and customers. It would fine people who do not register and those who call in more than two false alarms in one year.
The city council signed off on the plan Tuesday.
