N.C. DOT To Shift Traffic On I-40 East In Durham County

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation will shift traffic between the New Hope Creek Bridge and the Orange County line on Interstate 40 in Durham County at 8 p.m. Sat., June 28, weather permitting.

Eastbound traffic will be shifted from the two outside lanes to the two inside lanes. The traffic shift will be in place about four months.

The stop signs will be removed from the U.S. 15-501 and N.C. 54 ramps onto I-40 East once the eastbound traffic shift is complete.

This construction is part of the project to widen I-40.

NCDOT reminds motorists to obey the posted speed limit, and be aware of construction workers in the work zone. STAY ALERT, and watch signs for construction information.
