RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have arrested a middle-school student and charged him with extortion and attempted robbery.
The arrest report indicates Brandon Lee Hawkins, 16, tried to steal money from another student while riding the bus. It also shows Hawkins punched and banged the child's head against the seat.
Hawkins, an eighth-grader at Longview School in Raleigh, was in jail Sunday afternoon under a $20,000 bond.
