DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities have arrested a man videotaped over the weekend toting a shotgun inside an empty Durham elementary school.
Durham County sheriff's deputies arrested Joe Newcombe at a McDonald's restaurant on Holloway Street near Miami Boulevard Thursday afternoon. Newcombe was taken into custody and being questioned by investigators.
Earlier this week, authorities released a surveillance video in which a man was seen carrying a gun through the halls of Glenn Elementary School.
One surveillance video shows the intruder apparently breaking into the school and walking down a long hallway. Another video captured the man walking in what appears to be a lobby area. Two other video clips show the individual walking outside the school building.
