PERSON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities say a 17-year-old teenager died at a Person County lake.
Josh McCullar was swimming with his fiancee and his friends just offshore Friday afternoon, when suddenly he dropped out of sight.
Rescuers searched Hyco Lake for an hour before finding McCullar. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"All of them were the best of friends, I have no words," family friend Michelle Easter said.
McCullar not only leaves behind his fiance, but she was pregnant with his child. McCullar and his fiancee were planning to get married when they finished school next year.
