CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A fatal shooting over the weekend could put a Chapel Hill nightclub out of business.
Police Chief Gregg Jarvies was expected to make his recommendation Wednesday to the town manager about what to do about the Avalon nightclub. Now, the report is expected to be handed over sometime next week.
Last weekend, Kevdrian Swan was shot and killed outside the nightclub. A few weeks before that incident, two other men, Michael Reaves and a friend were beaten inside the club before a shooting happened outside the club.
Police said Avalon has had 25 serious incidents in the last year, which is more than any other club in town. Club owners have decided on their own to close their doors for a few weeks.
Chapel Hill leaders have been concerned about the recent violence and are considering closing the nightclub permanently.
