GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Twenty-year-old Carla Pierce was supposed to be back at her home near Goldsboro on Sunday night. Instead, she is still in Lebanon, not far from the fighting in the Middle East.
Danny and Sheree Pierce have been watching TV and waiting, looking for any sign that their daughter can come home.
"Of all of the times for this to happen, she's there," said Sheree Pierce.
Carla's parents said she has been able to call home. They said she is doing fine.
"It made me feel a lot better to hear from her," said Sheree Pierce.
Carla's family said it is relying on faith to bring their loved one home. This is Carla's first international trip. She was invited to the country by a Lebanese family she used to work for.
