Charges Pending In Fatal Harnett County Accident

Posted Updated

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Charges could be filed Monday stemming from a weekend car accident that killed two adults and injured two teenagers.

Highway Patrol troopers say Claude Mason of Lillington was drinking alcohol before he hit another car driven by James Futrell of Richlands -- killing Futrell and his wife, Judy, and injuring their two teenage nieces.

The teenagers, identified as Courtney and Destiny Fisher, also of Richlands, were airlifted to UNC Hospitals, where they remained in fair condition Sunday night.

According to the Highway Patrol, the girls lived with their aunt and uncle. The family was on its way to visit the girls' grandmother and go camping.
