Monks Might Run As Write-In DA Candidate

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A candidate tosses his hat in the ring -- again -- in the Durham district attorney's race.

Defense attorney Steve Monks ran hard to get his name on the ballot as an unaffiliated candidate.

He came up short of the required number of signatures.

Monks said he would not run as a write-in candidate but may have changed his mind.

Supporters said they've collected the necessary 100 signatures needed for Monks to become a write-in candidate.

County Commissioner Lewis Cheek still has not announced if he'll run.
