Authorities said an officer tried to pull Cindy Paschall over for driving erratically. Instead, police say she sped up and hit a pedestrian on Avent Ferry Road and Centennial.
According to authorities, the pedestrian only suffered minor injuries, but Paschall kept going. Officers said she made her way onto campus, ran into a parked car and then hit a bench.
Officers arrested Paschall and her passenger, James MacRoglou, after finding several bottles of alcohol in the vehicle. Authorites also found a 5-year-old, who they say was not wearing a seatbelt or was not in a child restraint system in the vehicle.
Investigators said the child in the car was MacRoglou's nephew. Police said the child wasn't injured, but they took the 5-year-old to Wake Pediatrics as a precaution. The child is now back with his mother.
Police said Paschall was driving under a suspended license for a previous DWI conviction. According to authorities, MacRoglou already had a warrant out for his arrest for filing false charges. Officers said he tried to run from police and gave them a fake name.
