Deputies raided a house on George Owen Road and found a small amount of crack cocaine, marijuana, percocet pills, two handguns, an assault rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, $1,300 in cash and drug and gang paraphernalia. Eight men and three women were arrested at the scene.
One of suspects is 18-year-old Michael Carter, who received a kidney from his teacher in a well-publicized transplant three years ago. He was charged Wednesday with conspiracy to sell and deliver cocaine.
Wednesday was not Carter's first run-in with the law since his transplant. He was arrested last year on theft charges.
When deputies made entry into the residence during Wednesday's bust, one of the occupants, Gertrude Birch, pointed a 357-caliber handgun at the officers. The gun was taken away from Burch without incident.
A small child also in the home at the time of the raid. Two of the individuals arrested claim to be members of the "Bloods" and "Folk Nation" gangs.
