According to the Durham Police Department, the accident happened just before 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Roxboro Road and Old Farm Road. The crash occurred when a 1990 Mazda pickup truck driven by Adrian Damon Sessoms attempted to make a left turn from Old Farm Road onto southbound North Roxboro Road.
As the pickup crossed the northbound travel lanes of North Roxboro Road, it was struck in the left rear side by the front of a 1989 Mazda four-door sedan driven by Ricky Lee Turner, Jr., who was traveling north on Roxboro Road.
Sessoms was rushed to Duke University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon with severe head trauma. Turner was treated at the scene.
Police said the collision was still under investigation Tuesday afternoon, when there were no charges pending.
