The mother of three was last seen in mid-March. Police found her car this week, but there was no sign of her.
Aracely Aguilar's family said she wouldn't willingly leave her three young children, including an 8-month-old baby.
Aguilar disappeared March 14, just after she had turned 24 and moved into a Raleigh apartment with her boyfriend and children.
Police found her car Sunday at a nearby Wal-Mart.
"Certainly, the fact that this is a young female with small children, who hasn't been seen or heard from in two weeks, causes us some concern," said Lt. Chris Morgan of the Raleigh Police Department."
Aguilar's father and sister came to Raleigh from their home in Chicago looking for answers. Police spent hours talking to them and Aguilar's boyfriend on Monday.
Investigators said they are puzzled why it took so long for someone to report Aguilar missing.
"We're investigating that as we speak," Morgan said, "looking into why it took so long to report her missing. The report was actually filed by her sister in Chicago."
Aguilar's boyfriend has been taking care of her children since she went missing more than two weeks ago. Her father and sister plan to take the children with them when they return to Chicago.
Raleigh police say Aguilar's relatives and boyfriend have been helpful and cooperative in their investigation.
