CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The cold and flu season has caused a drop in collections at the UNC Hospitals Blood Center. Officials say additional donors are needed immediately to meet the demand for patient needs.
All blood collected will be used for the patients of the four UNC Hospitals, including the N.C. Jaycee Burn Center and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Potential donors are urged to call

to schedule an appointment.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors must not have had any body piercings or tattoos done in the last 12 months.
The UNC Hospitals Blood Center is at 6224 Fayetteville Road, Suite 103, in Durham, less than a mile from The Streets at Southpoint.
