State Trooper Accused Of Sex Crimes Involving Minor

HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. — A Highway Patrol trooper based in Halifax County is accused of sex crimes involving a minor.

Trooper William Banks has been charged with 16 felonies involving a 14-year-old girl.

Banks was stationed in the Roanoke Rapids barracks in Halifax County and has been with the Highway Patrol since November 1999.

Banks is out of jail after posting $50,000 bond. He has been placed on administrative duty while authorities investigate the allegations.
