ROXBORO, N.C. — The body of a white male was found at a Progress Energy plant in Person County on Tuesday as workers unloaded coal cars in the plant outside Roxboro.
Investigators believe the man hopped in one of the coal cars in an effort to get into the plant. He apparently didn't realize the cars were going to be dumped and was killed when the car he was in got dumped.
The Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
According to the incident report, the man was either asleep or hiding in the car when the coal was poured into the coal feeder for the plant.
The man had not been identified Tuesday afternoon.
Employees spotted clothing when the car was dumped around shortly after 3 a.m. About 20 cars were dumped after that car. An employee went down and moved the clothing and saw the body.
