New Evidence Suggests Durham House Fire Was Set Intentionally

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities believe they have new evidence that suggests a fire at a Durham home was set on purpose.

Investigators were back at the site of a house fire on American Drive. They say they found evidence to suggest it was intentionally set.

Police found a shirt with duct tape, a chain and rubber gloves inside the home. Fire investigators are sending samples to the State Bureau of Investigation for testing.

The girl who managed to escape from the burning home Monday is now out of the hospital. Police say there is evidence she was tied up inside.
