Durham Woman Sentenced To 14 Years For Stealing Police Car

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Stealing a police car will cost Bernadette Toomer between 14 and 17 years in prison.

Toomer was convicted of stealing and wrecking a Durham police cruiser back in August.

Police had just arrested her for failing to appear in court. She somehow managed to trick officers and end up in the driver's seat.

Toomer was captured after flipping the cruiser during a high-speed chase.
