Second Suspect Arrested For Assault, Robbery at Hamont Cleaners

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County detectives arrested 20-year-old Antonio Franklin Johnson on Saturday following an investigation into the assault and robbery of the owner of Hamont Cleaners in Fayetteville.

Johnson, the second suspect arrested in the case, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deady weapon inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy.

Anthony Gladden, an associate of Johnson's, was arrested and charged with the same offenses on Nov. 12. Both Gladden and Johnson live near the scene of the crime.

The police have said that, back on Nov. 8, two individuals entered the Hamont Cleaners at 1020 Honeycutt Road, assaulted and robbed 73-year-old Grace Overby.

Johnson is scheduled to have his first court appearance on Monday at 9 a.m. in District Court. Bond information was not available at the time of his arrest.
