Cumberland County Fugitive Recaptured

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Cumberland County recaptured fugitive Latwang Reid in Raeford Wednesday evening.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Reid was arrested without incident inside a mobile home on Benton Loop around 7 p.m.

Reid pleaded guilty to shooting three people at a Waffle House in Fayetteville last year, but never showed up for sentencing on Sept. 17.

In addition to being charged with the failure to appear in court, Reid was charged with first-degree burglary, conspiracy, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted armed robbery. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Oct. 13.

Reid has also been identified as one of three people involved in a home invasion which took place on the night of Nov. 8. He will be charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon.

Members of the United States Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team, and Fugitive Squad assisted in Reid's arrest.
