Democrat Michael Weeks asked for a recount Tuesday after being defeated by Republican Phil Jeffreys in the Wake County Commissioner District 2 race.
Former Raleigh Mayor Paul Coble, who finished behind Eric Reeves in state Senate District 16, made an official request for a recount. Those recounts should be finished by next week.
Ballots will also be recounted by hand in Wayne County.
Right now, every vote is locked away in a closet. Officials said the voting machine skipped over some straight ticket ballots last week.
The recount which followed gave Goldsboro's state House seat to the Republican challenger giving the House majority to the GOP.
Updated vote totals from Wayne County showed Majority Leader Phil Baddour trailing Mount Olive Mayor Louis Pate Jr. by 164 votes in District 11.
Board members are deciding where to conduct the recount and how many volunteers from both parties will oversee the process.
