Rocky Mount Father, Friend In Court To Face Charges In Daughter's Abduction

Posted Updated

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount father who is charged with kidnapping his own baby and leaving her to die in shed was in court Friday morning.

Theodore Pittman made his first appearance to tell a judge that he understands the charges. Police say Pittman and a friend kidnapped six-week-old Key'ora Battle Monday, then left her alone in a shed for two days.

Sandy Yarborough, who said he has known Pittman for 20 years, is skeptical he could have done such a thing.

"I don't see where he would make that mistake, you know," he said. "He's a good person. He's a good-hearted person. He's a giving person and he has other kids."

The other suspect, David Earl Parker, also made his first court appearance Friday morning. Key'ora's family watched the proceeding from the back of the room.
