Judge Denies Motion To Reconsider Decision In Miss N.C. Case

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Judge Narley Cashwell denied a motion Monday to reconsider his prior ruling in the Miss North Carolina case.

Cashwell originally ruled that the Miss North Carolina organization should not recognize Rebekah Revels and Misty Clymer as Miss North Carolina until the case goes to arbitration. Barry Nakell, Revels' attorney, filed the motion asking the judge to reconsider his ruling.

Cashwell also ruled that the Miss America officials should not be a part of the lawsuit. On Monday, Nakell asked to have Miss America brought back into the lawsuit. Attorneys for the state pageant and the Miss America organization argued that they agreed with the judge's decision and his ruling should not be reconsidered.

He said this type of motion should have been taken before the Court of Appeals and not him.
